Traditional Youth Gathering

The Annual Traditional First Nations Youth Gathering will provide the opportunity for youth to interact and live in a natural setting. Youth will remain at the traditional site for four days. This is a unique experience for a number of the youth, to be able to learn about the First Nations culture. Together with our Elders as teachers we will seek to educate approximately sixty – five youth about the First Nations peoples historical relationship with the land, hunting, spirituality, fishing, survival skills, trapping techniques, team building, and traditional roles. The Traditional Youth Gathering will create an atmosphere where youth will explore their sense of cultural identity, while building self-esteem, creating new lasting friendships and revitalizing and reconnecting with the culture.

Regional Youth Gathering

The Regional Youth Gathering is an annual event intended to bring together young First Nation citizens from across Manitoba for a three day conference that will provide a positive atmosphere led by First Nation youth for First Nation youth to encourage learning, share experiences, and enhance individual capacity in specific areas. Youth are selected as delegates by their respective community leaders, organizations, schools, or members of their community. Every year, the youth gathering focuses on a different theme relevant to First Nation Youth in Manitoba. The Gathering actively involves youth in discussions and provides skill development and learning opportunities for the participants to gain confidence and reclaim their cultural identity as First Nation youth. The youth participants are given the opportunity to appoint their respective youth leaders each year. In addition, the gatherings focus on empowering First Nation youth to set goals and make good life choices.
