Youth Leadership Development Training

What is CEPS?

CEPS stands for Cultural, Economic, Political, and Social. These four areas were identified “BY YOUTH FOR YOUTH” as the four main components necessary for leadership development among Aboriginal youth. It is based on what youth NEED and WANT to develop into strong leaders of tomorrow. Each of the components incorporates the balance of the four aspects of the medicine wheel including physical, spiritual, mental, and emotional development. The Training will provide youth opportunities for positive growth. In order for youth to proceed on the path towards healthy development, they must break the barriers by working towards:

  • Re-vitalization and Re-connection to Culture,
  • Education on the History of the First People,
  • United Approaches to Self-determination,
  • Skills & Knowledge in Cultural, Social, Political, and Economic areas, and
  • Youth Empowerment

What is the purpose of CEPS?

CEPS Youth Leadership Development Training is intended to provide a unique educational experience that is currently not offered anywhere else. The CEPS Youth Leadership Development Training will focus on the individual, and the cultural identity of the individual. It will benefit youth to examine who they are and how they as individuals impact relationships with the family, community, and nation. It is the foundation of culture and relationships that will encourage and motivate youth to recognize their fullest potential. CEPS will serve as one of many positive experiences on the path toward success for Aboriginal youth.
