“As the collective and political voice for First Nation Youth in Manitoba, the Manitoba First Nations Youth Council will strive to empower all First Nation youth to pursue their leadership roles, preserve their cultural identity, and exercise their inherent indigenous rights”.
Purpose
Purpose of the MFNYC
The MFNYC has drafted a terms of reference which was purposed and passed a couple of years ago by the youth on the council at that time.
Purpose of the MFNYC is to:
1.) Advocate – bring youth issues and solutions forward, share ideas to take back to our communities, advocate for enhanced resources and services for youth.
2.) Promote – market existing services and effective approaches beneficial to youth and showcase successful youth initiatives.
3.) Service – develop strategies and proposals to address service gaps to the First Nation and Aboriginal communities.
4.) Network – develop networking strategies, coordinate youth forums, and build positive relationships with First Nation youth, communities, organizations, and all levels of Leadership
5.) Represent – act as a resource person and youth representative for the communities; and promote to be a positive role model while participating on local, regional, and national boards, committees, and/or working groups.”

These individuals are in control of updating correspondence between council members. For example, we update contact information, create orientation packages for new council members, prepare presentations, file reports, concerns etc...

This committee organizes 50/50 sales, socials, silent auctions as well as other fundraisers. The youth council depends solely on partnerships and fundraising in order to coordinate meetings, promotional material etc...
